The Peace Tower

The Peace Tower was dedicated in 1927 replacing an earlier tower that burned down in 1916.

It rises to a height of 302ft and houses a 53 bell carillon and a memorial to those Canadians who gave their lives to preserve our freedom.
This is taken from the observation on top of the Peace Tower and shows the roof of the Library and the Ottawa River. On the far side of the river to the left of the bridge is The Museum of Civilization.
