Spring is here.... where are the boats?

Silhouette

We are having a very mild winter and very little snow. Not so good for winter sports but it makes for interesting photos.

First Ice on Cove

After a very warm December the temperature dropped to -14C last night and the ice has started to freeze.

Glenwood Cemetary

The Glenwood Cemetary is located on 62 acres in the centre of Picton. It was opened in 1873 when the population of the town was about 2360. Picton was incorporated in 1837. Prior to the opening of Glenwood residents were buried in smaller local cemetarys throught the County.

Pasture Pond

Hydrangea in my Garden

This PeeGee Hydrangea puts on a good floral display from Spring to Fall

Autumn in cottage country

The road beside the lake and a glimpse of the lake through the trees.

Moonrise

On a clear October evening the moon rises over my neighbours house.

Yesterdays Pride

There are still a few old barns around the County but they are slowly dissappearing due to windstorms or new property owners concerned about personal injury.

The Fall Garden

Older House

There are a number of older houses in Picton that have unique archetectural features. I wonder who thought of adding this "turret".

Evening clouds

There was an interesting cloudy sky this evening. We used to call them "lamb tails" but I think the proper designation is "alto cumulus".

Morning Glory

Evening Sky

About 7pm the sky turned a soft pink just before sunset.

The New Post Office

Residents of the town of Picton do not have home delivery so this is a busy place 5 days a week. This building opened a couple of years ago, it replaced a older building that was not large enough to handle today's needs.

The Armoury

The Armoury on Main street was built in 1913 just prior to the beginning of the first World War. It is now occupied by various businesses.

Picton Public Library

The town of Picton received a grant of $12,500 from the Carnegie Foundation in 1906 and with a similar amount from the town its doors were opened Dec.14, 1907. It still is a very active centre in the community.

Bike Rental

This bike rental opened earlier this summer. It is located by the Post Office parking lot. I have not seen much activity so far.

Fields of Lavender

There is a Lavender farm north of Wellington in Hillier County. The fields bloom in July. A building with an interesting weather vane houses plants for sale and a variety of products made with lavender.

Picton Harbour

On the August 1st weekend the harbour was very busy.
